Angela Geoghegan
Owner/Director & Teacher

Angela completed a Bachelor of Dance Education through the Australian College of Physical Education in 2013.

As an educational professional, Angela believes the greatest influences on student learning is the quality of teaching. As a teacher, Angela is passionate about dance as an art form and supporting individuals in their own journey of dance.

Angela began her dance training at a young age in Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Ballet on Sydneyโ€™s Northern Beaches. In 2007, Angela was privileged to be accepted into DanceTANK Youth Company, which was a collaboration of 23 dancers selected to workshop and create a performance at the Sydney Opera House with one of Australiaโ€™s prominent creatives, Anton. This was where Angelaโ€™s passion for composition and dance collaboration began. In 2008,  Angela was accepted into Pulse8 Dance Company in Manly working with artistic director Kay Armstrong and many other influential choreographers including Sarah Vyne Vassallo and Mike Van Loon. These opportunities were key to paving a way of exploring dance as an artform. Angela performed professionally in a range of live performance and advertisement opportunities through 2010-2013 whilst studying at University.

Whilst completing studies at University, Angela taught at Van Loon Dance Academy in Manly & St Ives, where she shared her passion for teaching Contemporary and Jazz. Here she taught a range of year groups over the 4 years with Van Loon Dance Academy ranging from ages 6-13 years old.

Angela made the move to the Far North Coast in 2014 to teach Dance as a Secondary School Teacher. She has taught Stage 4 – 6 Dance in Lismore for 9+ years now, still a current full-time teacher. Since 2014, Angela has guided many students through their HSC Dance journey, each having their own significant journey. Through this time, 19+ nominations have been awarded to her students for โ€œCallbackโ€ – a showcase of exemplary HSC works. Most recently one student was selected for Major Study Performance to perform at Callback 2022 and Core Performance in 2024 at the Seymour Centre in Sydney.

Angela founded AS Dance Co in 2021 with the vision of providing a non-competitive and supportive environment where students can flourish in personal style.and a place where people could continue to dance post school.
